The HR Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for independently managing and executing day to day aspects of human resources programs, policies, and initiatives to support organizational goals and a positive employee experience. This role leads efforts in organizational development, workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, benefits, and designated HR systems.

The HR Business Partner builds strong relationships with business leaders to align HR strategies with organizational objectives and drive a high-performance culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and HR policy guidance.
  • Coach and advise managers on employee performance, conduct, and disciplinary matters.
  • Start off assisting and then learning to lead internal investigations, document findings, and ensure fair and compliant outcomes.
  • Administer and monitor compliance programs including FMLA, ADA, EEO, and workplace safety.
  • Manage unemployment claims, workers’ compensation reporting, and related documentation.
  • Conduct exit interviews, process separations, and ensure accurate employee record maintenance.
  • Partner with leadership to implement engagement surveys, compliance training, and policy updates.

Onboarding & Employee Experience:

  • Coordinate preemployment processes (background checks, MVRs, and documentation).
  • Assist with new hire orientation when needed and ensure accurate setup of employee records and HR systems (e.g., Paychex, Employee Navigator).
  • Manage employee communications, recognition activities, and engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and organized personnel files (electronic and paper) and ensure compliance with record retention requirements.

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition Support:

  • Serve as backup to the Talent Acquisition Supervisor for recruiting needs and critical roles.
  • Assist with posting positions, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating offers when needed.
  • Help maintain recruiting tools, reports, and records.
  • Support onboarding of new hires and collaborate with hiring managers to ensure a smooth transition.

HR Operations & Reporting:

  • Maintain and update HR systems and shared drives with accurate employee data.
  • Prepare HR reports and analytics (headcount, turnover, compliance status, etc.).
  • Update organizational charts and employee certifications monthly.
  • Support leadership with special HR projects, KPI meetings, and annual performance review coordination.
  • Monitor HR inbox and calls daily, ensuring timely and professional responses.
  • Assist with event planning, compliance documentation, and employee communications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required.
  • 35 years of HR experience, with exposure to training and benefits administration.
  • Knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and HR compliance.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problemsolving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and partner effectively across teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (e.g., Paychex, Employee Navigator).
  • SHRMCP, SHRMSCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred (support available toward certification).

Additional Information:

  • Daily responsibilities include monitoring the HR inbox, responding to HR calls, and processing updates in HR systems.
  • Weekly and monthly responsibilities include maintaining employee files, updating organizational charts, tracking key metrics, and coordinating HR communications.
  • This position plays a key role in maintaining compliance, strengthening HR processes, and supporting a positive workplace culture across all locations.
