Compensation: $130-160K + 15%


One of Vaco's midmarket home services clients is looking to onboard an HR Manager or Director as a newly created position to help build out that function and team.


They are a growing professional services company operating in a hands-on, operationally driven industry similar to the skilled trades sector. Key areas of support will include payroll (working with third party provider), benefits, acquisitions, talent acquisition and overall policy documentation.


This is high-growing, highly-acquisitive company (just closed several deals, more on the horizon) with the potential for the right individual to have general oversight over the team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build and implement the company's HR infrastructure, including policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Establish scalable HR processes for recruiting, onboarding, performance management, compensation, and employee relations.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent development.
  • Develop employee handbooks, HR policies, and compliance frameworks.
  • Manage onboarding processes to ensure successful integration of new hires.
  • Build relationships with recruiting partners, trade programs, and industry networks.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to managers on employee relations matters.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and safety-focused company culture.
  • Support managers with coaching, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Implement employee engagement and retention initiatives.
  • Develop and manage compensation structures appropriate for operational and field-based employees.
  • Evaluate and administer employee benefits programs.
  • Oversee payroll coordination, HRIS systems, and employee record management.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Ensure compliance with employment regulations including wage and hour laws, workplace safety, and documentation requirements.
  • Support leadership with HR-related risk mitigation and employment best practices.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and documentation.


Qualifications

  • 7-12+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally within professional services, construction, industrial services, or other operationally driven environments.
  • Experience building or significantly improving HR infrastructure in a growing organization.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR are a plus.
