Summary:
The Human Resources Specialist works collaboratively with the Recruitment Specialist and HR Manager to support onboarding, benefits administration, and related HR operations. This role ensures a seamless experience for both new hires and current employees by maintaining accuracy, compliance, and excellent service.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:-
Onboarding Process
-
Collect new hire paperwork, including on-site in-person I-9 documentation review.

Provide in-person 1:1 support to new hires, as needed.

Review documents to ensure thorough and accurate completion.

Process background checks; communicate status to supervisors; maintain clearance database

Ensure verification of employment, education, and experience for both internal and external candidates

Work with Recruitment Specialist to oversee completion of new hire electronic files.

Benefits/Leave Administration and Support

Manage employee benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations with accuracy and timeliness

Serve as a knowledgeable resource for employees on benefits questions and issues, providing clear and helpful guidance

Collaborate with benefits vendors and internal teams to resolve issues and improve processes

Prepare and distribute benefits materials, including open enrollment communications and informational resources

Facilitate benefits orientation and education sessions for new hires and current employees
-
Administers leave of absence and Workers’ Compensation programs in collaboration with third-party administrators and carriers, ensuring compliance with all federal and state requirements

Maintain up-to-date benefits documentation and employee records

Data Management and Compliance

Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance in HR systems

Assist with benefits reporting and audits to meet regulatory and organizational requirements

Support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

Other Duties
-
Participate in team meetings, internal audits, and special projects as needed.

Contribute to staff engagement initiatives such as surveys and recognition efforts.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience with benefits administration or human resources, ideally in a supportive role

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks accurately

Excellent communication skills, comfortable answering questions and explaining benefits clearly

Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality

Familiarity with HR information systems or benefits platforms is a plus

Ability to sit for extended periods and perform routine computer work; occasional light lifting may be required
