Delaware's Attorney General, the State's chief law enforcement officer, has a broad responsibility to combat crime, uphold civil rights, safeguard families, fight fraud, and protect consumers in the First State.

Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.
The Delaware Department of Justice (DOJ) is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Human Resources Supervisor to provide leadership and oversight of daily HR operations supporting the DOJ’s statewide workforce of more than 550 employees across its Criminal, Civil, Family, Fraud & Consumer Protection, and Administrative Divisions, with offices in New Castle, Kent, and Sussex Counties.
The HR Supervisor oversees and coordinates the delivery of comprehensive human resources services, including recruitment and staffing, employee and labor relations, classification and compensation, benefits administration, performance management, and compliance with state and federal employment laws. The position provides supervisory leadership to HR staff, ensures consistent application of HR policies and Merit Rules, and collaborates with DOJ leadership to meet agency operational needs.
This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to research and resolve complex HR issues. The HR Supervisor also plays a key role in mentoring and developing team members while ensuring the delivery of prompt, accurate, and customer-focused HR services that support the DOJ’s mission and objectives.
This is a full-time position with regular business hours and statewide responsibility for overseeing human resources operations across New Castle, Kent, and Sussex Counties. The role requires regular in-state travel to provide on-site HR support and maintain visibility across all DOJ locations. This position is designated as in-person and does not offer virtual or remote work options.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Human Resource Supervisor
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
1. Applicants must possess at least one of the following:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree or higher.
OR
Four years of professional human resource experience.
OR
Three years of professional human resource experience AND a Statewide Human Resource Certification or professional human resource certification.
In addition to the above requirement, applicants must meet all of the job requirements below:
2. Three years’ experience in performing professional human resource work in support of a human resource function.
3. Three years’ experience in providing guidance, direction and recommendations to employees, management or others on inquiries and/or challenges.
4. One year of experience in ensuring compliance with human resource laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
5. Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.
