The North Rockland (Haverstraw-Stony Point) Central School District is seeking candidates for the position of Human Resources Assistant at the District Office. This is a full-time 12-month position which includes a regionally competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. All candidates must meet the Rockland County Civil Service minimum requirements.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

  • Input employee information into Wincap including personnel appointments, stipends, retirements, resignations, leaves of absence and other actions
  • Prepare job postings for classified positions
  • Schedule interviews and assist with the onboarding process for classified employees
  • Work collaboratively with Rockland County Civil Service to ensure all applications and required documents are submitted for employees upon hiring and separation from the District
  • Work closely with the Payroll and Business Office regarding employee salary information/transactions and to ensure implementation of contractual provisions in accordance with District contracts
  • Help maintain and manage employee records including seniority, longevity, and salary information for employees
  • Answer routine correspondence and questions regarding contracts and other personnel matters
  • Assist with the completion of various forms and reports regarding current and former employees
  • Complete and submit information for Board of Education meeting agendas (e.g., appointments, resignations, leaves, etc.)
  • Provide assistance with the collection of statistical data for various New York State and Rockland County Civil Service reports
  • Provide employees with information needed to complete mandated compliance trainings
  • Assist with projects and assignments including employee recognition programs
  • Perform other professional duties assigned by Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Community Relations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, and five (5) years of responsible experience in a human resources or personnel capacity*** as a major function of the work (major function is defined as 50% or more of the day-to-day work experience); or

2. An Associate’s degree or equivalent college credits (minimum of sixty (60) credits) and three (3) years of responsible experience in a human resources or personnel capacity*** as a major function of the work (major function is defined as 50% or more of the day-to-day work experience); or

3. A Bachelor’s degree or higher and one (1) year of responsible experience in a human resources or personnel capacity*** as a major function of the work (major function is defined as 50% or more of the day-to-day work experience).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $58,046.00 per year
