Job Title: Human Resources Business Partner (Contract)

Compensation: $35.00 – $40.00 / hour

Work Schedule:

Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

10:00 AM – 5:30 PM (37.5 hours per week)

Occasional Saturday coverage approximately once per month with a weekday off in exchange

About Our Client:

Addison Group is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization that operates large-scale tourism and community programming in Chicago. As the organization prepares for a busy seasonal period, they are seeking a contract Human Resources Business Partner to help support employee relations and manager advisory needs for a growing workforce.

The HR team is small and collaborative, and this role will work closely with People Operations leadership to help ensure employees and managers receive timely HR guidance during a high-activity season.

Job Description:

The Human Resources Business Partner will primarily focus on employee relations and manager support. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to leaders by providing guidance on workplace issues, performance management, and HR policy interpretation. The position is well suited for an HR professional who enjoys partnering with leadership, handling sensitive employee matters, and ensuring consistent application of HR practices.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to managers on employee relations topics including performance concerns, disciplinary actions, and workplace conflicts
  • Support internal reviews and investigations related to employee concerns while ensuring proper documentation and fair processes
  • Assist leaders with drafting performance improvement plans, corrective action documentation, and employee communications
  • Interpret and apply HR policies while ensuring compliance with organizational procedures and employment guidelines
  • Collaborate with People Operations leadership to maintain consistent HR practices across departments
  • Identify recurring employee relations themes and provide recommendations to improve workplace processes
  • Serve as an accessible HR presence for employees and managers during operational hours

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of Human Resources experience, including employee relations or HR Business Partner responsibilities
  • Experience advising managers on performance management and workplace issues
  • Working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance best practices
  • Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion
  • Comfortable working independently while partnering closely with leadership

Additional Details:

  • Contract role expected to run through at least June with potential extension through September
  • Hybrid schedule with flexibility on which days are worked in the office
  • Background check required prior to start
  • HR team consists of a small, collaborative group supporting approximately 60–75 employees
  • Interview process includes one virtual interview with HR leadership
  • Target start date in late March
