About the Role
Responsive Capital Ventures (RCV), Responsive Home Buyers (RHB), and Responsive Asset Management (RAM) are expanding — and we’re ready to establish a unified, values-driven HR foundation that supports both our blue-collar, boots-on-the-ground teams and our remote professional workforce.
We’re seeking a Human Resources Coordinator who thrives on building systems from scratch and shaping the heartbeat of a growing organization. As our first dedicated HR professional, you’ll create structure where none exists — policies, processes, compliance frameworks, recruiting systems, and benefits — while ensuring that our culture and values remain at the center of everything we do.
This is a unique opportunity to design and launch the HR infrastructure for a multi-entity organization operating across multiple states — a hands-on builder role for someone who can balance people, process, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Build & Establish HR Infrastructure
Develop and implement foundational HR policies, SOPs, and systems across RCV, RHB, and RAM.
Create standardized HR processes for compliance, employee relations, performance, and documentation.
Partner with leadership to design a scalable HR function that supports organizational growth.
Manage and maintain employee records and HR data integrity across entities.
2. Payroll & Compliance
Oversee payroll processing and ensure accurate, timely pay across multiple states and entities.
Stay current on federal, state, and local employment laws — ensuring compliance for both field and remote employees.
Coordinate with Finance to reconcile payroll, benefits, and tax-related reporting.
Develop compliance calendars, audit checklists, and employee file systems.
3. Recruiting, Onboarding, & Offboarding
Manage full-cycle recruiting — sourcing, interviewing, and coordinating offers across all business units.
Partner with department leads to identify staffing needs and deliver a seamless, values-aligned candidate experience.
Lead onboarding for new hires, ensuring smooth integration for both remote and on-site roles.
Oversee offboarding to ensure consistent exit processes and knowledge transfer.
4. Benefits & Total Rewards
Research, design, and implement employee benefits and 401(k) programs (target rollout: end of 2026).
Evaluate and recommend benefit providers aligned with company culture and cost-efficiency.
Create employee-facing materials for benefits education and enrollment.
5. Culture, Engagement & Core Values
Serve as the heartbeat of company culture, championing communication and connection across teams.
Implement and support the STABLE Core Values, Culture Playbook, and Recognition Programs.
Help organize engagement activities, celebrations, and STABLE Awards.
Ensure both blue-collar and remote team members feel included, recognized, and supported.
6. HR Administration
Draft, update, and maintain the Employee Handbook and related HR policies.
Maintain HRIS (GoCo or similar) and ensure data accuracy and reporting integrity.
Support employee relations with fairness, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Qualifications
Required:
3–5 years of progressive HR experience, ideally supporting both field and remote environments.
Strong understanding of multi-state employment law and compliance.
Experience managing payroll, recruiting, and HR administration.
High attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
Excellent communication skills and ability to connect across all levels of the organization.
Proficiency with HRIS systems (GoCo or similar), payroll platforms, and Google Workspace / Microsoft Office.
Preferred:
Prior experience building HR systems or departments from the ground up.
Experience in construction, property management, or skilled trades industries.
PHR or SHRM-CP certification (or in progress).
Local to Indiana (Kokomo or surrounding areas) with hybrid flexibility.
Who You Are
A Builder: You love creating structure, processes, and clarity where there’s chaos.
A People Connector: You balance empathy with accountability and foster genuine trust.
A Culture Driver: You lead with heart, champion core values, and make work feel human.
A Compliance Keeper: You understand the rules and build smart systems to follow them.
A Doer: You roll up your sleeves and make things happen.
