Human Resources Generalist

Shive-Hattery has an immediate opening for a full-time, onsite Human Resources Generalist in our Cedar Rapids, IA Corporate Office with 0 to 3 years of experience. If you’re ready to grow your career in a supportive, people-first environment, we’d love to meet you.

This role provides essential support to our Human Resources team and helps us to ensure day-to-day operations across the firm. You’ll be part of a culture that values learning, mentorship, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide day-to-day support for HR operations and assist business units with HR-related needs
• Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies
• Collect, track and analyze HR data for reporting and compliance purposes
• Assist with compensation and benefits administration
• Facilitate and support our firm’s safety program
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned to support team and organizational goals

Requirements:

• Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
• Familiarity with employment/labor laws and HR procedures
• Experience in recordkeeping is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred, not required
• Human Resources Certification (i.e. PHR, SHRM-CP) or a commitment to professional development is desirable
• Must be able to work in an office environment for up to 8 hours
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must be able to travel as needed
