HR Generalist (Employee-Owner)
Location: Tucson, AZ (On-site) • Employment: Full-time • Reports to: CEO
Fire & Ice Holdings is an employee-owned company (ESOP) operating diverse food-service businesses. We’re building a people-first culture where great HR is practical, compliant and human. We’re looking for an HR Generalist who is hands-on across the HR spectrum—someone who can recruit great teammates, administer benefits, run training campaigns and advise managers on real-world workplace situations. You don’t need to be an expert in everything on day one—if you bring solid fundamentals, integrity and curiosity, we’ll support your growth.
What you’ll do
· Full life-cycle recruiting: Source, screen, schedule, interview, coordinate offers and onboard across hourly and salaried roles.
· Benefits administration: Support enrollments/changes, vendor coordination, employee education and issue resolution; maintain accurate records.
· ESOP support: Help communicate the value of employee-ownership and assist with annual processes in coordination with our plan administrator (prior ESOP experience is a plus).
· Training & education campaigns: Build and deliver compliance and role-specific trainings; track participation; iterate based on feedback.
· Manager advisement: Coach leaders on documentation, performance conversations, corrective action, investigations and conflict resolution; escalate when needed.
· HR operations & compliance: Handbook/policy updates, and required postings; prepare reports and metrics.
· Employee relations & engagement: Be a trusted, confidential resource and help foster a fair, inclusive and safety-minded workplace.
What you’ll bring
· 2–5+ years of progressively responsible HR experience (or equivalent combination of experience/education).
· Proven experience with full life-cycle recruitment and exposure to benefits administration.
· Working knowledge of employment laws (FLSA, EEO, ADA, FMLA; OSHA basics).
· Comfortable with HRIS/ATS tools and spreadsheets; strong attention to detail and documentation.
· Excellent judgment, discretion, communication and follow-through.
· Growth mindset: willingness to learn new domains and take on projects outside your comfort zone.
Nice to have
· ESOP experience (participant education, statements, eligibility, distributions).
· SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP (or working toward certification).
· Experience supporting multi-site, seasonal, or field-based workforces.
