HR Generalist With Restaurant Experience

Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid) M-TH Schedule – Friday WFH

Job Summary

The HR Generalist supports daily HR operations including employee relations, compliance, recruiting, onboarding, training coordination, benefits administration, HR systems, and policy implementation. This role is hands-on, detail-oriented, and critical to ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Serve as a primary HR point of contact for managers and team members across multiple states.
  • Support employee relations investigations, documentation, coaching, and corrective action processes.
  • Assist with compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FLSA, ADA, FMLA, Paid Leave laws, minor labor requirements, and break/rest rules.
  • Maintain accurate records, files, and HR documentation.
  • Assist with policy rollouts, updates, and companywide HR communication.
  • Conduct New Hire Audits to ensure I-9 accuracy, onboarding completion, proper Paycor setup, correct job codes, wage rates, tax forms, E-Verify checks, and compliance with state-specific onboarding requirements.

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Assist with recruiting efforts for restaurant leadership and hourly roles; partner with hiring managers on candidate flow.
  • Coordinate interviews, background checks, new-hire paperwork, and onboarding tasks.
  • Ensure new hires are accurately and timely entered into Paycor and assigned correct market, location, and position.

Training & Development

  • Coordinate monthly HR Learning Sessions
  • Track completion of key required training (harassment prevention, safety practices, time-editing policies, etc.).
  • Help build or update training materials, job aids, and HR resources.

Benefits, Payroll & HR Systems

  • Assist with benefits administration, including open enrollment, eligibility tracking, and employee questions.
  • Support payroll-related concerns, including wage adjustments, timekeeping corrections, and Paycor troubleshooting.
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity and run reports as needed (turnover, staffing, headcount, new hires, terminations, etc.).

Culture & Employee Experience

  • Support employee engagement programs, recognition initiatives, and culture-building efforts.
  • Assist with communication rollouts, newsletters, and HR updates.
  • Support new-store openings, orientation, and leadership onboarding.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of HR experience with a multi-unit restaurant group
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and HR compliance.
  • Experience with HRIS systems
  • Excellent communication, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Bilingual Required
  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally out of state.
  • PHR/SPHR/SHRM Certification Preferred

Pay: $60,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
