HR Generalist – Modular Building Manufacturer (Prevailing Wage Experience Required)

Location: Perris, CA

About Us:
NextMod Inc. is a rapidly growing modular building manufacturer serving California school districts, municipalities, airports, and public-sector clients. We manufacture, lease, transport, and refurbish modular buildings including classrooms, offices, and specialty structures. We are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated HR Generalist to support our expanding team and ensure compliance across all HR and labor-related functions.

Position Overview:

We are looking for an HR Generalist with hands-on experience in California Prevailing Wage, job-site compliance, onboarding, and day-to-day HR operations. This role supports our manufacturing facility, field crews, and administrative team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage onboarding/offboarding, new-hire packets, I-9s, and employee file compliance
  • Process prevailing wage documentation including certified payroll, DIR reporting, apprentice requirements, and wage classifications
  • Ensure compliance with California labor laws, wage orders, safety requirements, and employment practices
  • Support recruitment, interviewing, and job postings
  • Assist with timekeeping, attendance tracking, PTO management, and policy enforcement
  • Prepare and maintain employee records, disciplinary notices, performance reviews, and HR correspondence
  • Coordinate safety trainings, toolbox talks, and workers’ compensation claims
  • Support company culture initiatives and employee relations
  • Assist CFO/Controller with payroll reviews and labor allocations as needed

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years HR Generalist experience (construction or manufacturing preferred)
  • Strong understanding of Prevailing Wage / Certified Payroll (California DIR)
  • Knowledge of modular building, construction trades, or field labor (preferred)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive HR matters
  • Working knowledge of HR best practices, federal & state employment regulations
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Excel, HRIS systems, and document management

Schedule & Pay:

  • Part-time or full-time opportunity
  • Pay: $28–$36/hr depending on experience (DOE)
  • Office + field support as needed
