Job Title

HR Generalist

Location: East Windsor, NJ (On-site)

Reports To: COO/CEO

Position Summary

The HR Generalist supports day-to-day human resources operations and ensures HR policies, processes, and practices comply with applicable labor laws and company standards. This role plays a key part in employee lifecycle management, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and HR administration, in a highly regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Coordinate recruitment activities, including job postings, resume screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communications.
  • Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process and assist with offer letters and employment agreements.
  • Manage new hire onboarding, orientation, and required documentation, ensuring completion of I-9, W-4, and other employment forms.

HR Administration & Records

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in HR systems and personnel files.
  • Track employee status changes, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with document retention policies and regulatory requirements.

Employee Relations & Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee HR-related questions regarding policies, benefits, and procedures.
  • Assist in resolving employee issues, concerns, and conflicts in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Support performance management processes, including review cycles and documentation.

Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Support

  • Assist with benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and employee inquiries.
  • Coordinate with payroll providers to ensure accurate payroll processing and timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Support compensation-related data collection and reporting.

Compliance & HR Policies

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, etc.).
  • Support implementation and communication of HR policies, employee handbook updates, and SOPs.
  • Assist in HR-related audits, inspections, and internal reviews.

Training & Development

  • Coordinate employee training programs, including GMP training, compliance training, and onboarding sessions.
  • Track training records and ensure employees meet mandatory training requirements.
  • Support learning and development initiatives and performance improvement plans.

HR Metrics & Reporting

  • Prepare HR reports related to headcount, turnover, training, and compliance metrics.
  • Maintain HR dashboards and support data-driven decision-making.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with managers, QA, and Compliance teams to support a strong culture of accountability and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in company-wide initiatives and HR projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of HR experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, employee relations, and HR administration.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and payroll processes.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of HR best practices and employment laws.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
  • Experience in GMP or FDA-regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting audits or inspections.

Working Conditions

  • Office-based role with regular interaction across departments.
  • May require occasional after-hours support during audits, inspections, or special projects.
