Human Resources Generalist

Compensation: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist supports the Director of Human Resources and Payroll in the administration and coordination of the school’s human resources functions. This role serves as a key partner in supporting employees, maintaining HR operations, assisting with payroll and benefits administration, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and professional development initiatives.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and committed to maintaining confidentiality while supporting a mission-driven educational environment.


Human Resources Administration

  • Assists with the day-to-day administration of Human Resources operations and procedures.
  • Maintains accurate employee records and HR files in compliance with school, state, and federal requirements.
  • Assists with onboarding and offboarding processes for faculty and staff.
  • Coordinates employment paperwork, background checks, new hire orientation, and employee documentation.
  • Supports recruitment efforts including job postings, applicant communication, interview scheduling, and candidate tracking.
  • Assists with employee relations matters and responds to employee questions regarding HR policies and procedures.
  • Supports administration of performance review processes and professional development initiatives.
  • Assists with maintaining and updating employee handbooks, policies, and HR procedures.
  • Supports compliance with employment laws, Archdiocesan policies, and school procedures.

Administration Benefits

  • Assists employees with benefit enrollment and benefit-related questions.
  • Coordinates with Archdiocese Benefit Administrator regarding employee questions

Payroll and HRIS Support

  • Collaborate with the Senior Staff Accountant on payroll processing and support payroll-related activities
  • Review timekeeping records and follow up with supervisors to ensure timely approval of employee timecards
  • Processes employee personnel changes and maintains payroll documentation.
  • Assists employees with payroll-related questions and directs concerns appropriately.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of Human Resources or payroll administrative experience preferred.
  • Experience in an educational or nonprofit environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and payroll processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and HRIS/payroll systems; ADP experience preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation and collaborative approach to teamwork.
