POSITION SUMMARY
This is not a traditional “desk HR” role.
Fuji SEMEC is seeking a highly capable, operationally minded Human Resources Generalist to act as the primary HR presence for our U.S. operations. This position touches nearly every aspect of Human Resources, including payroll, employee relations, compliance, recruitment, onboarding, investigations, policy interpretation, performance management support, and day-to-day operational HR support.
This role requires someone who is confident, balanced, and capable of operating independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate must be able to build trust with employees while also maintaining firm boundaries, operational expectations, and legal compliance.
The Human Resources Generalist will work extremely closely with the Director of Human Resources and must be capable of acting as an extension of HR leadership on-site. This individual will often serve as the “eyes and ears” of the HR department within the U.S. operation and must demonstrate strong judgment, discretion, accountability, and professionalism at all times.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll & HR Administration
· Process and validate U.S. payroll accurately and confidentially
· Maintain employee files, attendance records, HRIS systems, and payroll documentation
· Monitor timekeeping practices and follow up with employees and managers regarding discrepancies
· Administer onboarding, offboarding, employment changes, and employee documentation
· Coordinate benefits administration and employee support
· Support HR reporting, metrics, and documentation requests
U.S. Compliance & Employment Law
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment legislation and regulations
· Support compliance related to wage & hour laws, leave administration, harassment prevention, ADA, FMLA, workers’ compensation, unemployment, and workplace documentation
· Assist with policy implementation and interpretation
· Support investigations, corrective actions, and disciplinary documentation
· Identify potential compliance risks and escalate concerns appropriately
· Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all employee matters
Employee Relations & Floor Support
· Act as a visible HR presence within the operation
· Support managers with attendance management, coaching, corrective actions, and workplace issues
· Address employee concerns professionally while maintaining operational accountability
· Reinforce workplace expectations, policies, and respectful conduct standards
· Recognize when situations require empathy and support versus accountability and redirection
· Assist in de-escalating conflicts and maintaining a professional work environment
· Ensure employees remain focused on their responsibilities while feeling heard and respected
Recruitment & Onboarding
· Coordinate recruitment activities including postings, screening, interviews, references, and offers
· Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process
· Coordinate onboarding schedules, orientations, and employee integration
· Assist in improving employee retention and onboarding effectiveness
HR Partnership & Operational Support
· Work closely with the Director of Human Resources on day-to-day priorities and sensitive matters
· Provide regular feedback regarding workplace morale, trends, concerns, and operational dynamics
· Help identify opportunities for process improvement and stronger workforce accountability
· Support HR projects, training initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts
· Maintain strong relationships with supervisors while remaining objective and consistent.
All other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
· Minimum 3–5 years of progressive HR experience required
· Experience processing U.S. payroll required
· Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law and compliance required
· Manufacturing experience strongly preferred
· Experience supporting hourly workforces considered a major asset
Technical Skills
· Strong understanding of HR operations and employment compliance
· Experience with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite
· Strong documentation and organizational skills
· Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
· Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
