Job Description - Human Resources Generalist

SUMMARY

The HR Generalist is responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR department. These duties include applying all HR policies and company guidelines and making sure they adhere to standards and laws. This position is primarily responsible for managing all general office duties. The position requires a great deal of discretion as responsibilities include handling confidential information. This individual will report to the Director of HR providing support and administration for several functions including: payroll, managing data, establishing processes/procedures, FMLA, internal newsletter, filing, preparing employee paperwork for a variety of reasons, HRIS system, employee events, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple priorities, producing accurate work in a professional environment subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Coordinate onboarding process to ensure a welcoming and inclusive experience for new hires.
  • Understand and administer TN State and Federal Laws.
  • Assists in the onboarding of new employees in the HRIS system.
  • Process payroll for bi-weekly and monthly payroll
  • Manage the weekly attendance tracking
  • Maintain employee information in various systems and their employee file
  • Assisting in the recruiting process to include: reviewing resumes, phone screens, scheduling interviews, running background checks and following up with candidates.
  • Assist with processing employee terminations paperwork and gathering final documents.
  • Assist in coordinating and executing employee events
  • Assist in designing employee communications
  • Run various HR reports, daily, monthly, and quarterly.
  • Order company supplies as needed.
  • Assist with monthly newsletter.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • 3-4 years of human resources experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Proven experience in HR
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail, have superior organizational skills and consistent follow through.
  • Be able to work with employees at all levels of the organization and work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Must have strong attention to detail along with critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g., fax machines and printers)
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Strong word and excel skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, stoop, reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
