Human Resources Generalist

Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The Human Resources Generalist will provide administrative support across all HR functions, ensuring the smooth operation of daily HR activities. This role is vital in maintaining employee records, assisting in recruitment, and supporting employee engagement initiatives within the restaurant industry

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day-to-day HR operations and administrative tasks specific to the restaurant industry.
  • Handle workers' compensation claims, ensuring timely documentation, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Administer employee insurance programs, including enrollment, claims support, and record maintenance.
  • Manage Employment Development Department (EDD) filings and processes, ensuring compliance and timely submissions.
  • Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality, particularly for restaurant staff across multiple locations.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews, meetings, and training sessions for corporate and restaurant staff.
  • Support the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, and conducting initial candidate outreach for restaurant and corporate roles.
  • Assist in onboarding and orientation processes for new hires, including restaurant team members.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures, with a focus on restaurant-specific needs.
  • Help organize company events, recognition programs, and wellness initiatives for both corporate and restaurant staff.
  • Manage HR documentation, including contracts, performance reviews, and disciplinary records for restaurant staff.
  • Track and report on HR metrics such as turnover rates, absenteeism, and training participation, specifically within the restaurant context.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies relevant to the restaurant industry.
  • Assist in payroll processing and benefits administration as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as an HR Assistant or in a relevant administrative role.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with HR software, such as Paylocity
  • Experience with insurance administration.
  • Basic knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.
