HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

Full-time, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama insurance for medical, prescription, dental, and vision. Vacation, holidays, and sick leave. State Retirement. The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will play a pivotal role in supporting various HR functions within our organization. Duties will focus on HR administration, Human Resource Information System (HRIS) management, and employee and management support. Additional duties may include assisting with benefits, training and development, recruitment, and projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Administration

  • Collaborate with HR team members and organizational stakeholders to ensure that employee changes are processed in a timely and accurate manner, to include hiring, job changes, and out-processing.
  • Create and distribute badges for the Center’s access control system.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files, both physical and digital. Ensure compliance with relevant privacy and confidentiality policies.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives.

HRIS Management

  • Provide HRIS technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to employees, managers, and administrators.
  • Ensure data is accurately processed and maintained according to organization rules, data security and privacy requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in HRIS providers, vendors, and technology.

Employee and Management Support

  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Answer queries about HR-related issues in-person, via phone, via our HRIS, and through email.

Assist the Benefits, Training, and Recruiting Teams as needed.

Assist with or lead projects assigned by the Sr. HR Generalist.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, Business Administration, or related field.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in HR roles, with knowledge of HR principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in HRIS software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Certification in Human Resources (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements

  • Walking and climbing (stairs) to/from buildings to access other departments.
  • Sitting for long periods (4-6 hours) behind a desk.
  • Pushing, carrying, and lifting items, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds to waist high.
  • Sight, reading, wrist movements, and feeling to operate a computer terminal.
  • Talking, and hearing to instruct employees and assist guests and service providers in person and over the telephone.
  • This position interacts with employees and potential employees of the Rocket Center.

  • Must have exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Must have a collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental Factors

  • This position involves working in a climate-controlled office environment.

Expected Hours of Work

  • Standard Shift: Daily, Monday through Friday, from 8 to 5.
  • Hours may vary based on organizational need.
