Qualifications

  • Read and interpret policies, procedures, and process documentation.

  • Advanced knowledge of human resources, allowing for specialized and technical work. Required knowledge is acquired progressively through education, experience, and/or formalized training involving professional certification.

  • Conduct research from various sources, gather, and analyze data as it relates to HR related topics, labor law, compliance requirements, etc. Ability to utilize information to evaluate and select the most appropriate course of action.

  • Think strategically and execute plans to completion. Solve practical problems and provide suggestions for solutions as needed.

  • Prioritize and organize workflow and interact with employees in all capacities within the organization. Maintain the ability to handle competing priorities effectively.

  • Respond effectively and efficiently to inquiries and/or complaints. Exercise discretion while regularly managing confidential information.

  • Meet deadlines; be self-directed and able to work autonomously/independently as needed.

  • Work effectively in a team-based environment; interact professionally with customers and a highly diverse employee base on a regular and routine basis.

  • Proven record of results-driven experience and success in high-level HR related initiatives.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Proficient writing skills, with focus on correct style, grammar, and content.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Enthusiasm for the mission of the organization.

  • Frequent travel is required to other locations, including the corporate office.

  • A valid driver's license and automobile insurance acceptable to Goodwill's liability insurance carrier.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in conjunction with three (3) to seven (5) years of experience in a mid-to-sized organization. A combination of education and experience in human resources and/or employee relations will be considered. Experience working in a non-profit environment and a professional SHRM/HRCI certification are highly preferred.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to: sit, walk, talk, and or hear; use close, distance, and peripheral vision; bend; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Requirements:

SUMMARY

Perform Human Resource-related functions on a professional level with a high degree of confidentiality. Works closely with senior HR and management to support HR related projects, plans, initiatives, and compliance requirements for the entire organization. Carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas, including, but not limited to: employee relations; federal, state, and compliance-related reporting; overseeing AAP, EEO-1, VETS 4212 requirements and reporting; policy/process review, enhancement, and implementation; employment law compliance; and training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in identifying HR related process/policy/procedure gaps; prepares best practice recommendations; develops and implements sustainable Standard Operating Procedures and Processes. Recommend new approaches to improve efficiency, eliminate waste, and enhance services.

  • Responsible for reviewing, maintaining, and updating company-based policies and procedures on an annual basis. Assesses potential risk. Makes recommendations to improve understanding and clarity, and to support organizational growth and development.

  • Ensures consistent interpretation and application of Palmetto Goodwill policies/procedures. Assists with the development and implementation of related training and reviews.

  • Supports and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations regarding employment practices and remains aware of pending changes.

  • Maintains and completes affirmative action program requirements; compiles data for accurate EEO-1 and VETS-4212 annual reporting; maintains records to conform to EEO regulations; assists with any related audits.

  • Responsible for employee relations matters, including counseling and guidance. Conducts investigations as necessary and recommends countermeasures to resolve. Assists with EEOC/SHAC/Harassment/HR Investigations.

  • Maintains accuracy in various HR based technology systems, including HR Information System (HRIS), Employee Self Services, HR Actions, Kronos, etc. Assists with system organization, system configuration, and troubleshooting, and continuity between components.

  • Assists with the maintenance of the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) in compliance with the Department of Labor, Office of Federal Contract Compliance.

  • Builds, nurtures, and maintains strong working relationships with employees, team members, leadership, vendors, and relevant supporting organizations. Interfaces with leadership on current and long-range needs.

  • Assesses potential risk and ensures adherence to state and federal employment laws and regulations, maintains current knowledge of labor laws and regulatory ruling changes.

  • Ensures the integrity and confidentiality of all HR related information. Maintains files and records in accordance with appropriate retention policies.

  • Complies with all Agency policies, procedures, and safety standards throughout work areas; maintains the same to meet CARF, Department of Labor, and other regulatory standards.

  • Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.
