Scope of Responsibility

Cascade Engineering has an opening for a Human Resources Manager. Internally we call this position, an HR Operations Manager who serves as a strategic business partner, delivering comprehensive HR support to designated functional groups while collaborating closely with senior HR leadership. This role drives organizational effectiveness and business results through employee relations, talent management, regulatory compliance, and the implementation of HR policies and programs that align with business objectives and enhance organizational culture.


Location: North Plant (5145 36th St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512)


Shift: Day with some flexibility needed to occasionally come in early, stay late, or adjust as needed to support the demands of a 24/7 manufacturing environment


Target Pay: The target starting base salary for this position is $63,186.00 – $98,996.00 (plus quarterly bonus incentive). Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Cascade Engineering considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.


What You’ll Be Doing

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Serves as accountable business partner to plant leaders and employees, understanding unique needs and business objectives to provide expert HR counsel and support
  • Develops and maintains high-trust relationships across all organizational levels to facilitate culture change and drive business results
  • Analyzes and presents HR metrics and business intelligence to enable strategic decision-making

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Establishes positive employee relations through issue resolution, investigations, and conflict mediation while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Serves as legal compliance resource, staying current on regulatory requirements including workers' compensation laws
  • Drafts, administers, and interprets company policies and procedures

Talent Management & Development

  • Participates in recruiting, interviewing, and new employee orientation processes
  • Provides career development counsel and facilitates performance management activities
  • Coordinates with temporary agencies for workforce planning and order fulfillment

Operations & Administration

  • Maintains accurate employee records, files, and database systems using HRIS and Microsoft Office applications
  • Administers routine HR activities including promotional increases, performance reviews, and benefits processes
  • Maintains health and safety records and supports safety initiatives

Continuous Improvement & Communication

  • Leads monthly shift meetings and facilitates problem-solving teams and committees
  • Supports business unit changes, special projects, and event coordination with focus on continuous improvement
  • Participates in HR Forums and other professional development activities
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field with 5+ years of HR experience, OR Associate's degree with 10+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment regulations and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and HR policy implementation
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft 365 applications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation development and professional correspondence
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Self-motivated professional with strong initiative and independent work capabilities

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of progressive HR experience
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR professional certification
  • UKG HRIS platform experience
  • Manufacturing or industrial environment HR experience
  • Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish preferred)
  • Experience with temporary staffing agencies and contingent workforce management
  • Continuous Improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) knowledge and implementation experience
  • Project management skills with cross-functional team coordination experience
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
