HR Manager
Location: Middletown, CT 06457
Pay: $80,000–$100,000
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Manager to lead all aspects of people operations for our firm. This role offers the opportunity to own HR initiatives from recruiting to employee engagement, compliance, and performance management in a collaborative, onsite environment.
What You’ll Do:
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Manage the full hiring lifecycle via Workable.
- Post jobs, coordinate interviews, select candidates, and lead onboarding with 30-/60-/90-day check-ins.
- Maintain role profiles and job descriptions.
Team Culture & Engagement
- Plan firm events such as holidays, birthdays, retreats, and lunch-and-learns.
- Support professional development and maintain a training calendar.
Employee Relations
- Serve as the main contact for employee questions and sensitive issues.
- Provide coaching to employees and leaders.
HR Administration
- Manage PTO, leaves, and remote work arrangements.
- Oversee benefits, including short-term disability.
- Submit time entries and maintain accurate employee records.
Team Performance Management
- Administer quarterly reviews via Rippling.
- Track goals, coordinate feedback, and support fair evaluations.
Policy & Compliance
- Maintain and update the employee handbook.
- Ensure HR policies are compliant, up to date, and clearly communicated.
Firm Initiatives
- Lead quarterly HR projects with leadership, including updating career pages, managing awards submissions, rolling out training, and developing recognition programs.
Cross-Functional Support
- Collaborate with trial teams, operations, and leadership to anticipate staffing and resource needs.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: 5+ years in HR, ideally within a law firm or professional services, with firm-wide ownership of people operations.
- Knowledge & Credentials: SHRM certification preferred; strong understanding of Connecticut labor laws and HR best practices.
- Tools: Proficient in Rippling, Workable, and Trainual; skilled at leveraging technology for efficient HR processes.
- People Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; maintains confidentiality and professionalism with sensitive matters.
