Position Overview

The HR Manager oversees all human resources functions for a field-based workforce engaged in high-risk operations. This role is responsible for recruiting, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, and performance management. The HR Manager ensures company policies are followed, supports leadership with workforce planning, and promotes a positive and professional work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Administration

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of field and office staff.
  • Maintain employee records, personnel files, certifications, and compliance documentation.
  • Develop, update, and enforce company policies, employee handbook, and HR procedures.
  • Administer benefits, leave programs, payroll changes, and employee status updates.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, wage regulations, and labor standards.

Employee Relations & Performance

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and conflict resolution.
  • Support supervisors with performance management, disciplinary actions, and documentation.
  • Coordinate performance reviews, promotions, and corrective action plans.
  • Assist with workforce planning, staffing levels, and retention strategies.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Manage workers’ compensation claims in coordination with the Safety Manager.
  • Oversee onboarding documentation, background checks, drug testing, and eligibility verification.
  • Maintain confidential records and ensure HR best practices are followed.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of HR management experience.
  • Experience in construction, tree removal, logging, or similar field-based industries.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP).
  • Experience supporting a workforce with safety-sensitive positions.

Work Environment

  • Office-based with regular interaction with field supervisors and leadership.
  • Standard business hours with flexibility during peak seasons.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
