Human Resources Manager

Position Overview
Our client, a prestigious Am Law 200 firm, is seeking an experienced and proactive Human Resources Manager to oversee local HR operations and support a collaborative, high-performing workplace. Reporting directly to the Office Managing Partner, this role serves as a trusted advisor to leadership while ensuring HR practices align with firmwide strategy, compliance standards, and business objectives.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in employee relations, staff management, and law firm or professional services environments, along with the ability to balance day-to-day HR execution with strategic partnership.
Key Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle recruitment for non-attorney roles, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding

Lead new hire orientation and ensure a smooth, engaging onboarding experience

Administer and communicate employee benefits at the local level

Directly supervise non-legal staff and provide guidance to team supervisors

Oversee secretary and paralegal staffing workflows, workload distribution, and special projects

Manage annual performance reviews and compensation planning for support staff, including salary and bonus recommendations

Support associate review processes and conduct stay interviews to promote engagement and retention

Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, offering practical guidance and resolution support

Administer leaves of absence, ensuring compliance, documentation accuracy, and clear communication

Oversee employee separations, including exit documentation, surveys, and follow-up discussions

Foster strong relationships across attorneys and staff to promote an inclusive and collaborative office culture

Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and firm policies (ADA, EEO, FMLA, OSHA, FLSA, etc.)

Manage workplace injury reporting and Workers’ Compensation claims

Coordinate office initiatives and events such as staff appreciation programs, wellness screenings, and flu clinics

Perform additional duties as needed to support office operations
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required

Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role

Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; experience with PowerPoint and databases a plus

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels
