Environmental Systems Service, Ltd. (ESS) is an environmental services firm located in Culpeper, Virginia. ESS has been a leader in water & wastewater treatment operations and maintenance for over 50 years. The company also maintains a state certified environmental laboratory, which supports our Environmental Services Division, as well as performing water, wastewater, and soil testing from outside clients.
ESS is seeking an organized, detail-oriented person for a full-time Human Resources Manager position. Candidate must be experienced with MS Word, Excel and have the aptitude to quickly learn other computer programs. Experience with Sage 100 is a definite plus. It is essential to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, prioritize work to obtain a high degree of efficiency, determine and handle confidential matters, and use tact in dealing with customers and staff members in a fast-paced environment.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Recruitment and review of resumes and employment applications; schedule interviews and extend offers of employment.
- Acquire background checks and team member eligibility verifications.
- Process I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification forms and ensure compliance; maintaining documentation as needed.
- Facilitates the new hire onboarding, including benefits enrollment, data base update, and create employee personnel and safety files.
- Maintain complete and accurate personnel files for all employees, including all documents related to employer policies, payroll information, medical and benefit information.
- Respond to verification of employment requests as needed.
- Prepares and files Workers’ Comp claims and OSHA reports of injury or illness.
- Process weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality. Complete electronic transfer to bank accounts.
- Updates payroll records for changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, pay rates, job titles, etc.
- Prepare quarterly unemployment tax reports and annual W2’s.
- Operate and maintain office machinery, including copiers, printers, and computer equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Candidate should have experience in both human resources and payroll processing. A degree in human resources or certification is a plus.
Salary is based on several factors, including experience, and is evaluated on an individual basis after an application has been submitted.
