Human Resources Manager - Union City, TN

Job Summary

The Plant Human Resources Manager leads all people operations for the local manufacturing site, partnering closely with plant leadership to support workforce stability, compliance, and day-to-day execution. This role is highly visible on the production floor and serves as the primary HR partner for supervisors and employees. Responsibilities center on employee relations, hourly staffing, attendance and performance management, payroll accuracy, compliance, and reinforcing a consistent, respectful workplace culture. The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR leader who thrives in fast-paced operations and brings sound judgment, calm leadership, and practical problem-solving to the floor.

Core Responsibilities

  • Owns all HR operations for the plant, serving as the primary HR presence
  • Partners with plant leadership and frontline supervisors on daily people matters, including attendance, performance, discipline, and employee concerns.
  • Leads recruiting and onboarding efforts to maintain appropriate staffing levels and support operational continuity.
  • Manages employee relations matters end-to-end, including investigations, corrective action, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
  • Engaged in employee development, including leading and participating in employee training
  • Coaches supervisors on effective people leadership, documentation, and consistent application of policies and expectations.
  • Supports payroll execution by ensuring accurate timekeeping, wage and hour compliance, and timely submissions; resolves employee pay questions.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, company policies, and site-specific requirements.
  • Maintains strong visibility on the production floor and builds trust with employees through consistency, fairness, and follow-through.
  • Supports plant-level change initiatives and workforce communications, helping leaders implement changes smoothly and effectively.
  • Maintains accurate employee records and supports audits, reporting, and required documentation.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with direct experience supporting an hourly manufacturing or plant environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated strength in employee relations, attendance management, corrective action, and supervisor coaching.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR fundamentals in an operational setting.
  • Experience supporting payroll and timekeeping processes.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office; Paycom experience is a plus.
