The Opportunity
We are seeking a HR, Talent & Performance Manager to take ownership of how we recruit, hire, develop, and support our team.
This is not a traditional HR role.
You will be responsible for building a high-performance organization by:
- Recruiting top-tier talent
- Implementing structured hiring systems
- Developing training programs
- Managing HR processes and employee lifecycle
- Tracking and improving employee performance through KPIs
You will work directly with leadership and play a key role in scaling the company.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Pipeline Development
- Build and maintain a continuous pipeline of:
- Project Managers
- Superintendents
- Assistant Project Managers
- Proactively recruit from competitors and industry networks
- Screen and present top candidates to leadership
Hiring Process & Systems
- Develop structured hiring processes and role scorecards
- Coordinate interviews and candidate evaluations
- Conduct meaningful reference checks focused on performance
Onboarding & Training
- Create and manage 30-60-90 day onboarding programs
- Develop training systems for:
- Project management processes
- Field execution standards
- High-end quality expectations
- Support mentorship and internal development
Performance Management & KPI Tracking
- Define and track KPIs for all employees and new hires:
- Project Managers (budget, schedule, client satisfaction, margins)
- Superintendents (schedule adherence, quality, subcontractor performance, safety)
- Build and maintain performance dashboards
- Lead monthly performance reviews with team members
- Partner with leadership to tie performance to compensation and growth
HR & Employee Lifecycle Management
- Manage core HR functions, including:
- Employee onboarding and documentation
- Benefits coordination and administration
- Employee relations and issue resolution
- Policy development and compliance (CA labor laws, etc.)
- Maintain employee records and ensure HR compliance
- Support leadership in handling performance issues and terminations professionally and consistently
Retention & Culture Development
- Conduct regular employee check-ins and engagement initiatives
- Identify retention risks and implement proactive solutions
- Help build clear career paths and advancement opportunities
- Support a culture of accountability, professionalism, and excellence
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years in recruiting, HR, or talent management (construction or related industry preferred)
- Proven ability to recruit and close high-quality candidates
- Experience managing HR processes and employee relations
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Data-driven mindset with experience tracking performance metrics or KPIs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment

Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
