Human Resources & Payroll Specialist Position Overview:

The Town of Mount Olive is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Human Resources & Payroll Specialist to join our team. This position plays a key role in supporting city employees through accurate weekly payroll processing, HR services, and accounts payable assistance. The ideal candidate will be a trusted resource for staff, promoting a positive and responsive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly payroll for all municipal employees with accuracy and confidentiality • Maintain and update employee records in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee HR-related inquiries, including benefits, leave, and policies
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations
  • Support accounts payable functions including invoice tracking and vendor coordination • Prepare HR and payroll reports for internal and external use
  • Coordinate training and development opportunities for staff
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies
  • Promote a welcoming and supportive environment for all city employees Preferred

Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll and HR functions
  • Experience with payroll software and HRIS systems
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Base Pay: $39,520.00 - $42,000.00 per year
