General Statement of Job

The HRIS Reporting and Data Analyst assists in the operation and maintenance of the human resources reporting system to ensure accurate and timely processing of all changes to an employee's database and maintains the ongoing integrity of data through timely audit reports. Supports and collaborates with the HRIS Officer and Business Systems Analysts on all business system projects. Responsible for the development and maintenance of management, standard production, user, regulatory, and ad hoc reports.

Additionally, the HRIS Reporting and Data Analyst provides formal training to human resources data system users using custom software and business system.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • This role compiles and analyzes HR data, metrics, and statistics to create reports for various human resource programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders (internal/external) in understanding business requirements and ensures results meet requirements/business needs.
  • Provides support and maintenance for the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensures data integrity, assists with HRIS data audits, maintenance, and data cleanup.
  • Develop and enhance the HR reporting function; create and maintain advanced and ad hoc reports, HR dashboards, scorecards, and other reports to support HR using system programs, report writer programs (Argos, Python, or Oracle SQL Developer), and MS Excel and Access.
  • Provides internal support for reporting and data needs, including report writing, dashboard development, troubleshooting data issues, and implementing enhancements and fixes.
  • Reviews and analyzes data to identify patterns, ensure accuracy, and support informed decision-making across HR functions.
  • Builds complex data sets and conducts detailed analysis of HR data to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
  • May assist with managing HRIS projects to ensure the project scope, plan tasks and timeline meet the project requirements.
  • Participates in cyclical HRIS processes including HRIS upgrades, testing of system changes and workflow implementations, etc.
  • Create job aids, guides, and documentation relevant to HRIS technology processes
  • As the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) reporting agent and expert, responsible for preparing, verifying, and submitting all quarterly and annual workforce information and labor reports, including but not limited to, IPEDS and FTE reports. Consults with functional users regarding data being used, as needed.
  • Designs and develops HR reports, dashboards, and data tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintains familiarity with the College’s policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field required; Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of the coding language SQL required.
  • Experience in database management and reporting software such as Toad, or Oracle SQL Developer, preferred.
  • Experience in Evision’s reporting software Argos, preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team player within the department and with others.
  • Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical and professional manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Requirements

  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including the ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely.
  • Standing particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading.
  • Mobility to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
