Position: Human Resources Specialist - Split Shift

Normal Hours: Monday - Friday 1 pm - 10 pm (once fully trained & signed off).

Training Hours: Before able to work normal shift hours, must be available to work 6:30 am - 3:30 pm until signed off (potentially a couple of months or longer depending on the situation).

Must be available to work additional hours, shifts (when needed), & overtime. Possible rare occasion weekend hours.

Must be flexible on work hours, as this position would cover the Blue/day shift when needed & for PTO usage 6:30 am - 3:30 pm.

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt - Full Time

The Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for various functional areas of Human Resources, with duties that may include the following:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the accurate audit & data entry for all items, specifically new hires, personnel changes, & terminations
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements & government reporting regulations affecting human resource functions & ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Coordinate & participate in recruiting efforts, including marketing, job fairs, interviews, hiring decisions, job offers, background screening, & scheduling orientation
  • Conduct new hire orientation & ongoing developmental training programs.
  • Administer requests and fulfilment of temporary employment orders, assisting with Variable Team Members & working with temporary staffing agency on any issues, etc.
  • Assist & summarize employee investigations.
  • Assist with all facets of company-sponsored events & employee appreciation activities/gifts, including the creation of proposals, site-selection, vendor reviews, contract negotiation, event flow, space requirements, catering, analysis of effectiveness, ideas for employee appreciation, activities, gifts, etc.
  • Maintain, adhere to, track expenses, & report on budget for employee appreciation activities & community events.
  • Develop relationships within the community, including those with charitable organizations, school systems, & peer competitors & promote volunteerism/charitable donations.
  • Monitor & increase employee engagement, including use of surveys, round table lunches, incentives, events, & employee communications.
  • Create & maintain company calendar of events, contests/drawings, ticket sales & distribution & employee discounts.
  • Assist with employee leave programs, including FMLA leaves, USERRA, & company-provided leaves of absences, in accordance with applicable laws & policies.
  • Administer & communicate employee benefit programs in compliance with governmental requirements.
  • Administer & prepare employee Corrective Actions.
  • Oversee &/or assist with workers’ compensation claims & compliance with OSHA reporting requirements.
  • In HRIS system & in electronic personnel files, maintain employee data, including title, department, hierarchy, pay rates, & demographic information & provide monthly reporting.
  • Oversee time worked & attendance of hourly employees. Communicate with supervisors as needed. Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws.
  • Process payroll, including tax rates, employee withholdings, & garnishments.
  • Maintain & report daily, weekly, monthly, etc. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reports as assigned, analyze trends, & recommend improvements.
  • Manage & prepare travel support items for employees traveling to support other Vuteq locations (i.e., make flight arrangements, rental car or company car arrangements, expense report preparation, etc.)
  • Additional various human resources tasks such as responding to unemployment claims, etc.
  • Additional administrative duties such as answering the gate bell, ordering/picking up food for other departments as needed, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • Knowledge of Environmental ISO14001 preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, policies, procedures, & governmental regulations within the field of human resources.
  • Flexibility to work multiple shifts, as necessary

  • Strong organizational & time management skills with an ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results with efficiency & effectiveness
  • Proficient in MS Office skills including Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
  • Superior analytical reasoning & problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently & as part of team with management & associates at all levels

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or 2 years of related experience preferred
  • PHR or SPHR preferred
