Huntsville CMC Site HR Leader

Job Description Summary

The Huntsville CMC Site HR Leader will be responsible for providing the full scope of HR advice, guidance, and strategic support to the Huntsville CMC site, with 500 professional and production employees and growing. This HR Leader will also provide HR support to the CMC Raw Material Industrialization Leader and team.

This role will be responsible for leading the HR function and providing support to the CMC Tape and Fiber manufacturing plants. We look to this leader to execute a comprehensive People Strategy, with a focus on a culture of respect for people, continuous improvement, and customer focus.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated guidance and coaching to leaders and employees with a specific focus on employee advocacy / engagement, FLIGHT DECK, employee relations, performance management, career development, and talent assessment
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and policies that align with organizational goals and objectives
  • Develop and analyze HR metrics and reports to assess the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives.
  • Serve as a key contributor to the site senior leadership team, forging strong relationships with leadership and providing leadership coaching as required to clients.
  • Communicate with a high level of impact and strong influencing and collaborating skills.
  • Communicate a clear, accurate understanding of HR KPIs and metrics (e.g., culture & engagement survey, succession bench metrics, attrition) to the business and provides insights and strategic direction on how to use them to grow the business, deliver results and drive continuous HR improvement
  • Oversee that employee relations issues are properly identified, reported, investigated, and resolved.
  • Provide advice and counsel to managers and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures, and practices at 100% compliance to promote an ethical and compliant work environment
  • Actively support the recruiting, staffing and onboarding effort for both the Tape and Fiber plants
  • Lead and facilitate training sessions and workshops that enhance the skills and knowledge of employees and managers.
  • Conduct investigations including gathering, preserving, documenting and analyzing all available information and evidence, and in some circumstances, making recommendations to the business on disciplinary action
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to HR practices, such as EEO, FMLA, and ADA.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related area from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 5 years prior experience in Human Resources, Business, Employee Relations or related area(s) (can include internships)
  • Direct experience in client-focused HR role including learning and development, recruiting, employee relations, and compensation.
  • Direct experience with union and non-union employee relations in a supply chain environment.
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources from an accredited university or college
  • GE HRLP Graduate or graduate of a similar program
  • 2 years of experience as a People Leader
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • A track record and reputation as a trusted advisor and someone who can influence business leaders and the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Deep project and change management skills, with the ability to act as a change agent
  • High energy individual with the ability to lead, coach and advise leadership to empower employees and builds high-performing teams
  • Approachable and responsive resource able to connect with employees at all levels
  • Desires employee-facing work; willingness to make horizontal moves to develop HR expertise
  • Applies solid judgment ensuring integrity, compliance, & confidentiality
  • Strong interest in innovative HR solutions and process improvement
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
