HVAC and Refrigeration Technician

Job Summary:

The HVAC and Refrigeration Technician will be responsible to clean, adjust, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, and refrigeration systems. The Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting mechanical failures, perform equipment maintenance, warranty, and emergency repairs. The HVAC and Refrigeration Technician may also be required to advise on equipment upgrades and alternate cooling systems.

Essential Functions:

• Maintain and repair ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment.
• Identify maintenance risks on equipment.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
• Clean, adjust, and repair systems, and preform warranty services.
• Perform emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
• Provide technical direction and on-the-job training.
• Keep daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
• Ensure compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Comply with service standards, work instructions and customer’s requirements.
• Assist with customer queries.
• Order equipment supplies, repair modules for orders.
• Read and interpret blueprints and compliance schematics.
• Observe and test newly installed systems.
• Troubleshoot refrigeration equipment failures.
• Maintain stock levels.
• Replace worn seals, outer shells, and worn-out motors.
• Inform clients of repair costs and alternate cooling options.

• Maintain a professional courteous relation with all customers, vendors, contractors, and fellow employees.
• Ensures compliance of all work-related activities in a fair, ethical and consistent manner.

Credentials and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Previous experience as Refrigeration Technician.
• Previous experience in HVAC with certification, and willingness to continue education in the HVAC field.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of local building codes.
• Working knowledge of broiler systems.
• Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.

Physical Requirements:

• The minimum physical requirements for this position include:
• Ability to stand and walk for an extended period.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
• Ability to perform repeated bending, standing, and reaching.
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.

Pay: $28.18 - $33.94 per hour
