HVAC Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Load Calculations: Perform cooling and heating load calculations using industry-standard software.
  • System Design & Selection: Design comprehensive HVAC systems, including air handling units (AHUs), chillers, VRF systems, ductwork networks, chilled water piping, and mechanical ventilation.
  • Equipment Sizing: Select and specify appropriate HVAC equipment, fans, pumps, diffusers, and control dampers based on engineering calculations and project requirements.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs comply with international codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA) as well as local building and environmental regulations.
  • Value Engineering: Optimize designs for energy efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability, exploring green building practices (like LEED or Estidama, if applicable).
  • Documentation & Support: Prepare detailed design drawings, schematic diagrams, technical specifications, and Bill of Quantities (BOQ). Coordinate closely with architectural, structural, and electrical design teams.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of [5–7] years of proven experience in HVAC design within an engineering consultancy or MEP contracting firm.
  • Software Expertise: Proficiency in Hourly Analysis Program (HAP), AutoCAD, and Autodesk Revit (MEP).
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of psychrometrics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and building management systems (BMS).
  • Skills: Strong analytical thinking, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple design deadlines simultaneously.
