HVAC Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated HVAC Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and optimisation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across commercial and/or residential projects. You will ensure systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and review HVAC systems for new and existing buildings
• Carry out heating and cooling load calculations and system sizing
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation
• Oversee installation, commissioning, and testing of HVAC systems
• Diagnose faults and implement effective repair solutions
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
• Ensure compliance with building regulations, health & safety standards, and energy efficiency requirements
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines
• Provide technical support and guidance to site teams and clients

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related field
• Proven experience in HVAC design, installation, or maintenance
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles
• Familiarity with HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, HAP, IES or equivalent)
• Knowledge of current building regulations and industry standards
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Desirable Skills

• Experience with energy modelling or sustainable building design
• Knowledge of BMS (Building Management Systems)
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation
