Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Lab Extraction System Engineer to join our engineering team in the UAE. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of laboratory extraction and ventilation systems that ensure safe and compliant research environments.

This role focuses on maintaining proper airflow, contaminant control, and environmental stability in laboratories and research facilities where hazardous chemicals, biological agents, and sensitive experiments are conducted.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, install, and commission laboratory extraction and ventilation systems for research and laboratory facilities.
  • Ensure proper airflow direction, containment, and pressure control to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Design and manage fume hood extraction systems and local exhaust ventilation (LEV) to safely remove hazardous fumes and vapors.
  • Maintain optimal temperature, humidity, and air quality to support sensitive laboratory processes.
  • Implement and maintain HEPA filtration systems and contaminant control strategies.
  • Perform airflow balancing, duct testing, and system performance verification.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable HVAC, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades of HVAC and extraction systems.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams including HVAC engineers, facility managers, and safety officers.
  • Prepare technical reports, commissioning documents, and maintenance records.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / HVAC Engineering or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in HVAC systems, preferably in laboratories, healthcare facilities, or research environments.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Laboratory extraction and ventilation systems
  • Fume hood operation and containment principles
  • Air change rates and airflow patterns
  • HEPA filtration and contaminant control
  • Knowledge of HVAC system components such as AHUs, exhaust fans, ducting, and filtration units.
  • Ability to read and interpret HVAC drawings and technical schematics.
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and environmental controls.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with cleanroom or research facility HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of energy-efficient ventilation strategies such as Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems.
  • Experience in testing and commissioning laboratory ventilation systems.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC controls.
