Key Responsibilities
- Assist HVAC Technicians: Help with installing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductwork.
- Prepare Job Sites: Set up work areas by gathering tools, materials, and equipment; clean up debris and keep workspaces organized.
- Handle Materials: Measure, cut, and assemble components like pipes, tubing, or fittings under supervision; transport and organize supplies.
- Perform Basic Tasks: Assist with tasks like cleaning coils, replacing filters, checking refrigerant levels, or testing system components.
- Ensure Safety: Follow safety protocols, use personal protective equipment, and maintain tools to prevent accidents.
- Support Documentation: Help with basic administrative tasks, such as logging maintenance records or tracking inventory, as needed.
Requirements and Skills
- Education: High school diploma or GED; vocational training in HVAC, mechanical systems, or construction is a plus but not required.
- Experience: No prior experience required, though familiarity with tools, mechanical systems, or construction is beneficial.
- Skills: Basic mechanical aptitude, ability to use hand and power tools, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift 50-100 pounds, climb ladders, crawl in tight spaces, and work in varying temperatures or heights.
- Soft Skills: Effective communication, teamwork, and a willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Certifications: EPA Section 608 certification (for handling refrigerants) may be preferred but not always required at entry level; OSHA safety training is a plus.
- Other: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for some positions.
Work Environment
- HVAC helpers work in diverse settings, including homes, offices, schools, or construction sites, often in attics, crawl spaces, or outdoors.
- The role involves exposure to noise, dust, extreme temperatures, and potentially hazardous materials like refrigerants.
- Schedules are typically full-time, Monday through Friday, with possible overtime, weekends, or on-call shifts during peak seasons (summer/winter).

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
