HVAC Installation Technician

The primary responsibility of the HVAC Installation Technician is to replace heating and cooling systems and associated control systems. The HVAC Installation Technician is also responsible for maintaining the quality of work at acceptable company standards, and for representing the company to the customer in a manner that ensures effective communication and a positive relationship.

A day in the life:

  • Install HVAC equipment and related accessories including DX equipment to 50 tons, water source heat pumps, fan coil units, unit heaters, ductless split systems, and other HVAC equipment and accessories
  • Perform tenant fit out alterations including ductwork replacement, alterations, thermostat relocations, and other associated tasks
  • Maintain consistent compliance with company and customer policies and procedures as they relate to proper time sensitive completion of required documentation (i.e., work orders, quote information, P card receipts, various logs, customer websites, customer IVR systems, customer web-based applications, and any other customer crucial documentation requirements)
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance always; this applies to the individual, his/her truck, tools, and equipment as well as customer property
  • Obtain purchase orders, properly utilize P-card and make small purchases required to complete work
  • Keep the service coordinator informed of location and status work orders and projects through constant communication and updating mobile documentation daily at beginning and end of every workorder or project
  • Attend periodic meetings or trainings as required (i.e., review of work progress, discussions about potential problems felt to be beyond his/her ability or authority, toolbox, and safety meetings)

You should have:

  • A State Journeyman’s card or Master’s License
  • EPA approved CFC Certification
  • Knowledge of current BOCA Code and OSHA safety regulations
  • Industry experience in the same field or 3-years’experience working as a Service and/or Installation Technician
  • Ability to read and follow prints and other job-related documents
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Ability to coordinate and perform multiple activities in a timely manner
  • Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with customers
  • Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy, make decisions based on measurable criteria and comprehend technical data
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include varying shifts, short notice assignments, emergencies, nights, weekends and overtime (scheduled and unscheduled), as required
