Are you an experienced HVAC professional with expertise in piping and controls? We’re looking for a highly skilled HVAC Mechanic – Piping & Controls to join our team and support the installation, maintenance, and optimization of complex commercial and industrial HVAC systems across the state.
This is a technical, hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives working with both mechanical systems and advanced building automation technologies.

What You’ll Do
In this role, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, and troubleshooting HVAC piping systems and control systems to ensure peak performance and efficiency. You’ll work closely with project teams and other trades to deliver high-quality, code-compliant systems.
Your day-to-day may include:

Installing, modifying, and repairing hydronic piping systems

Performing brazing, soldering, and welding on piping and copper line sets

Installing and servicing piping systems for chilled water, hot water boilers, and cooling towers

Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and control diagrams

Installing, troubleshooting, and repairing Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems

Calibrating pneumatic and electronic controls

Assisting with system startups, testing, and commissioning

Servicing equipment such as rooftop units (RTUs), VAV boxes, and VRF systems
-
Performing predictive and preventive maintenance on large-scale HVAC equipment

Coordinating with electricians, sheet metal mechanics, and other trades
-
Ensuring all work meets project specifications, codes, and industry standards

Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe job site

Using hand tools, power tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment

Communicating material needs and project updates to supervisors
What You Bring
We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, dependable, and takes pride in their work:

Vocational/technical training or completion of an HVAC apprenticeship

3–5+ years of experience in commercial or industrial HVAC environments

Strong knowledge of hydronic systems, piping, and HVAC controls
-
Experience with BAS/DDC systems, troubleshooting, and programming
-
Solid understanding of HVAC systems, electrical codes, and circuitry
-
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
-
Proficiency with hand and power tools

Reliable transportation

Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations

Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Ability to work independently and help guide apprentices or helpers

Safety-minded with knowledge of OSHA regulations

Positive attitude and strong work ethic

Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Certifications & Licensure

Gas Equipment Installer
-
HVAC license preferred (where applicable)
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on role requiring the ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform tasks that involve bending, reaching, standing, kneeling, and working on your feet for extended periods.
