HVAC Project Engineer

Job Summary

The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for the execution, coordination, and delivery of District Cooling systems for residential building construction, including ETS works, building chilled water distribution, and interface coordination with DC providers. The role ensures compliance with contract requirements, authority standards, quality, safety, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities1. Project Execution & Coordination

• Manage mechanical works related to District Cooling connections for residential towers/buildings
• Coordinate site activities for ETS installation, CHW piping, insulation, and testing
• Monitor progress against approved schedules and report to Project Manager
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, BMS, and architectural teams

2. Engineering & Technical Responsibilities

• Review IFC drawings, specifications, and BOQs for:
• ETS layout and equipment
• Building CHW networks (risers, branches, FCU connections)
• Prepare and obtain approval for:
• Shop drawings
• Material submittals
• Method statements and ITPs
• Resolve technical issues related to:
• Plate heat exchangers
• Secondary pumps
• Control & balancing valves
• Expansion systems
• Noise and vibration control

3. District Cooling Provider & Authority Coordination

• Liaise with District Cooling operators such as Empower and Tabreed
• Coordinate approvals for:
• Cooling load calculations
• ETS layouts
• Equipment selections
• Attend technical meetings, inspections, and commissioning activities

4. Site Supervision & Quality Control

• Supervise subcontractors for ETS and CHW installations
• Ensure works comply with:
• Approved drawings
• Project specifications
• ASHRAE, BS, CIBSE, and local standards
• Conduct inspections, raise IRs, and close NCRs
• Ensure proper installation of:
• CHW piping & supports
• Valves, strainers, meters
• Thermal insulation

5. Testing, Commissioning & Handover

• Plan and execute:
• Pressure testing
• Flushing and chemical cleaning
• Pre-commissioning and final commissioning
• Coordinate BMS integration and DC provider commissioning
• Prepare as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and handover documentation

6. Safety & Compliance

• Enforce site HSE rules and safe work practices
• Conduct toolbox talks and risk assessments
• Ensure zero accidents and compliance with project safety plans

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• DM-approved engineer or equivalent UAE experience preferred

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience in District Cooling for residential building construction
• In-depth knowledge of:
• ETS design & installation
• Building CHW distribution systems
• DC provider interface requirements
• Experience working with consultants and main contractors in Dubai
• Good communication, coordination, and reporting skills
• Proficient in MS Office; Primavera knowledge is an advantage

Preferred Experience

• High-rise residential towers connected to District Cooling
• EPC or Design & Build projects
• Interface management between DC network and building systems

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: AED4,500.00 - AED10,000.00 per month
