Introduction
The Department of Health Services (DHS), Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) is recruiting to fill an
HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist-Advanced
position. This position primarily works Monday-Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm but may work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as needed.

Position Summary
Responsibilities
As an HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist-Advanced at WRC, you will be responsible for the operation of mechanical, HVAC, and refrigeration systems for WRC. You may provide occasional work and support as needed at the neighboring facility Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI). Responsibilities include:

Diagnosing building mechanical problems and insuring satisfactory operation of building systems.

Identifying, correcting, reporting, and communicating building operational and maintenance needs.

Performing repairs on electromechanical detention equipment and commercial appliances.
-
Performing scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance actions on equipment.
-
Leading and overseeing work performed by helpers, contractors, and other staff.
-
Reviewing project plans and prints for future installations or upgrades.
Salary Information
The starting pay is $32.21 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 03/15.
Job Details

All appointees will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
-
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date.
-
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 80 lbs.; bending, crawling, and climbing ladders. You may also be required to work in confined spaces. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.

Applicants must meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy:
-
Must have a valid driver's license.
-
Minimum of two year's driving experience.
-
Must be 18 years of age of older.
-
Additionally, the driving record must not reflect the following conditions:
-
3 or more moving violations (with point reductions) and/or at fault accidents in the past 2 years.
-
An OWI or DUI violation within the past 12 months.
-
A suspension or revocation of the driver's license.
Qualifications
At a minimum, you’ll need the following:
-
Must possess an EPA Section 608 Technician certification at Type II or above.
-
Experience installing, troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems and refrigeration.
-
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy described above to drive a state vehicle.
It’d be great if you also have one or more of the following:
-
Experience or training in commercial kitchen equipment repair and maintenance.

Experience working with plumbing, steam, or other mechanical systems.
-
Experience using computer programs to track work orders and monitor and adjust Direct Digital Controls (e.g. TMA or eMaint CMMS).
