HVAC REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN

An HVAC employee for an ice manufacturer and distributor—often titled a Refrigeration Technician or HVAC/R Field Mechanic—is responsible for the end-to-end reliability of the cooling systems that produce, store, and display ice products. This role spans from high-capacity industrial plants to retail "merchandiser" units.

Core Responsibilities

  • Production Maintenance: Operating and maintaining large-scale industrial systems, such as chillers and boilers, to ensure continuous ice production.
  • Field Service & Distribution: Installing, troubleshooting, and repairing ice merchandisers (display freezers) and commercial ice machines at retail and customer locations.
  • Preventative Care: Performing routine inspections, detailed cleanings, and seasonal overhauls to prevent breakdowns and ensure food safety compliance.
  • System Diagnostics: Identifying electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related issues using specialized tools like voltmeters and gauges.
  • Compliance & Safety: Managing the recovery and recharging of refrigerants in accordance with EPA regulations and maintaining strict safety standards

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
