HVAC Systems Development Engineer

The ICE/PHEV/BEV HVAC System Bench and Benchmarking Engineer will lead the system bench setup and validation while optimizing interaction among Air flow system, refrigerant system, controls, battery chiller systems, electronic TXVs and solenoid valve, high voltage electric air conditioning compressors for Stellantis Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) applications. Will be responsible for competitive vehicle benchmarking for component sizing, system optimization and innovat ion that can be implemented in Stellantis vehicles.

Job responsibilities include but not limited to:
Define subsystem and product architecture requirements based on vehicle PHEV/BEV HVAC system applications.

Develop product specifications and evaluate supplier technical solutions.

Provide technical clarification of designs with HVAC system engineers and cross functional teams.

Develop test strategies and validation plans for system bench.

Resolve issues and problems that arise.

Benchmark competitive vehicles.

Provide innovative solutions for both component and system level for optimum performance.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related degree field .

Minimum 5 years of HVAC product development experience for electrified powertrain.

Understanding of the function and performance characteristics of all HVAC system components such as controls, compressors, chillers, HVAC units and their interactions.

Understanding of the key functional parameters that can be varied in order to meet higher level system requirements, and the trade-off analyses that are required to determine the optimum system architecture to meet the vehicle level HVAC functional objectives.

Understanding of the engineering development processes to ensure robust design development.

Understanding of Cooling and Heating simulation tools.

Ability to create and harmonize technical documentation including DFMEA and DVP&R; creating DFMEA documentation to ensure proper flow for function, failure mode, and design controls which lead directly in to DVP&R.

Understanding of industry trends in areas of Interior occupant thermal comfort, controls, refrigerant components, Heat exchangers.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering .

Design for Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification.

Experience in Automotive product development and program execution.
