HVAC Tech I

The HVAC Technician I installs, operates and maintains the organization’s heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The HVAC Technician I is responsible for identifying repair and/or replacement needs, then completing installations and repairs. This position also conducts preventative maintenance and upgrades for HVAC systems and equipment. The HVAC Technician I assists associates within and outside of their trade.


This position is located at St. Vincent's Riverside-Jacksonville, FL.

Responsibilities:

Maintaining HVAC systems – 80%

  • Installs, inspects, maintains, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on all heating, air conditioning, ice making, refrigeration, and ventilation systems.
  • Maintains and applies current knowledge of steam distribution, piping, valves, chilled and hot water reheat systems and Pressure Reducing Value (PRV) operation.
  • Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.
  • Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Maintains knowledge of departmental equipment procedures for power outages.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations.
  • Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for ensuring availability in safe operating condition.
  • May coordinate, maintain and repair all energy management systems.


Special Projects – 20%

  • Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must have one or more of the following:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of trade school.
  • 2 years’ relevant experience.
  • EPA license (level l).
  • Other equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.
