Harris County Precinct 4 is seeking a qualified HVAC Technician to perform maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across multiple facilities. This position works under the direct supervision of the Trades Assistant Superintendent and requires technical expertise, independent judgment, and adherence to safety standards.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain and repair HVAC systems, including air conditioners, chillers, heating units, and air filtration systems.
Service and troubleshoot chiller package units and related components.
Respond to work orders independently and ensure timely completion.
Perform preventive maintenance and routine monitoring of HVAC systems.
Install and replace window units and thermostats.
Diagnose system malfunctions and recommend corrective actions.
Assist in budget preparation for future HVAC needs.
Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory of supplies, track invoices and orders.
Design small HVAC systems for new construction projects within the precinct.
Provide technical support and oversee daily operations on assigned projects.
May require working before, during, or after an emergency or disaster at the department's discretion.

Willingness to mentor a journeyman HVAC technician.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and technical manuals.
