HVAC Technician Apprentice

Duties

• Assist senior technicians with installing, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, and refrigeration equipment.
• Learn to interpret schematics, technical drawings, and HVAC design plans to support system setup and maintenance.
• Support field service operations by performing routine inspections and maintenance on HVAC equipment across various properties.
• Help with plumbing tasks related to HVAC systems such as pipe installation and repairs.
• Use tools like ohmmeters and welding equipment to diagnose electrical issues or repair mechanical components.
• Contribute to property maintenance by ensuring HVAC systems operate efficiently and safely.
• Support refrigerant handling procedures, including ammonia refrigeration systems, following safety standards.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of construction principles and mechanical systems.
• Prior experience as a service technician or in property maintenance is a plus.
• Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design concepts, and electrical troubleshooting tools such as ohmmeters.
• Hands-on experience or coursework related to refrigeration, plumbing, or appliance repair is desirable.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn welding techniques and equipment repair methods.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating a <PERSON> driver vehicle preferred.
• Strong interest in HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems including ammonia refrigeration.
• Willingness to learn about boiler operation and mechanical components like pumps and motors.
• Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive attitude toward maintenance tasks. Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
