HVAC Technician's Assistant

Duties

• Assist senior technicians with installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and plumbing components.
• Support the setup and interpretation of schematics and HVAC design plans to ensure accurate system installation and troubleshooting.
• Help perform routine inspections of HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) equipment using tools such as ohmmeters and welding equipment.
• Participate in field service tasks including appliance repair, property maintenance, and mechanical system adjustments.
• Aid in diagnosing issues with refrigeration systems such as ammonia refrigeration units and assist with equipment repair or replacement as needed.
• Support the safe handling of refrigerants and ammonia systems in compliance with safety standards.
• Contribute to ongoing maintenance tasks including welding, boiler servicing, and general mechanical repairs to ensure optimal system performance.
• Operate a <PERSON> driver vehicle for transporting tools or equipment between job sites safely.

Skills

• Basic understanding of construction processes and property maintenance practices.
• Prior service technician experience or hands-on mechanical background preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC design documents.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems including air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, and boiler operations.
• Familiarity with field service procedures such as appliance repair and equipment troubleshooting.
• Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair, welding techniques, and maintenance routines.
• Experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems or HVAC/R technology is a plus.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools like ohmmeters for electrical troubleshooting.
• Strong mechanical aptitude combined with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work safely with refrigerants, ammonia systems, and electrical components while following all safety protocols.
