Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable HVAC/R – Commercial Kitchen Appliance Repair Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial refrigeration units and kitchen equipment, including walk-in coolers/freezers, ice machines, ovens, fryers, grills, steamers, etc.
You will work independently in the field, provide excellent customer service, and ensure equipment is repaired efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair commercial refrigeration equipment (reach-ins, walk-ins, under-counter units, ice machines, etc.)
- Troubleshoot and service commercial cooking equipment (ovens, fryers, steamers, griddles, ranges, dish machines, etc.)
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and equipment testing
- Detect refrigerant leaks, replace components, and recharge systems
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Document service work, parts usage, and recommendations
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal team members
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in good working order
- Follow all safety and EPA guidelines and company procedures
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed
Qualifications
Required:
- 2+ years experience in commercial HVAC/R or commercial kitchen equipment repair
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical repair
- EPA 608 Certification
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying environments (hot kitchens, cold walk-ins, tight spaces)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent customer-service and communication skills
Preferred:
- Manufacturer certifications for major commercial kitchen equipment brands (Hoshizaki, True, Vulcan, Rational, etc.)
- Experience with gas cooking equipment repair
- HVAC trade school or equivalent technical training
- Experience with hot-side & cold-side equipment
