About the Role

Medford Wellington is seeking a high-level Commercial HVACR Technician to step into a full-time Instructor role and lead our in-house technical training program.

This is not a traditional field role — this position is focused on developing and training the next generation of HVACR technicians through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on lab training, with occasional field-based teaching.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver high-quality classroom and lab-based instruction in HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical systems
• Develop lesson plans, training materials, and technical presentations
• Lead hands-on training labs covering real-world HVACR systems
• Teach advanced diagnostics on:
• RTUs, split systems, VRF, and chillers
• Commercial refrigeration systems (walk-ins, racks, CO₂ systems, ice machines)
• Electrical systems, controls, and troubleshooting
• Train technicians on:
• Wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and control systems
• Multimeter usage and diagnostic procedures
• Preventative maintenance best practices
• Evaluate trainee performance through testing and hands-on assessments
• Provide mentorship and technical support to developing technicians
• Conduct occasional on-site training sessions in the field

What They’re Looking For

• 7+ years of Commercial HVACR field experience
• Strong background in:
• Electrical troubleshooting & controls
• Advanced diagnostics
• Commercial refrigeration systems
• Ability to clearly explain complex systems in a teaching environment
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Comfortable using computers for lesson planning and presentations
• Prior teaching, mentoring, or leadership experience is a plus

Licenses & Certifications

• MA Refrigeration License (or equivalent)
• EPA Certification
• Valid Driver’s License

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour
