Hydraulic Engineer

Job description:

1. To oversee the coordination of workers & supervisors engaged in hydraulic work for compliance to company standards and the requirements of the work specification.

2. Provide documentation for repairs and troubleshooting done on hydraulic system, including test procedures, materials etc.

3. Preparation of process calculation including piping sizing, control valve and equipment selection and sizing, pressure and flow calculations, etc.

4. Analyze, compare and select process equipment including hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, actuators, filters, power packs, accumulators, etc.

5. Perform regular maintenance checks and perform maintenance for hydraulic systems by referring technical guidelines and manuals.

6. Trouble shooting, overhauling & modification of various Deck Hydraulic Machineries, Hydraulic Cargo Controls (actuator, solenoid valves etc) & steering system in ships.

7. Inspecting and examining components and parts of hydraulic pumps, motors, valve and cylinder for wear, dirt.

8. Perform tasks of diagnosing and replacing defective and malfunctioning parts and components.

9. Responsible for performing test – run of repaired machinery.

10. Update technical drawings and diagrams.

11. Liaise with customers and other departments in technical issues.

12. To complete ‘Work Completion report’ and have these signed off by the customer where necessary.

13. To complete scrutinize timesheets for workers & supervisors under his supervision.

14. Follow necessary safety regulations, applicable work instructions, operating procedures, method statements etc. as required in carrying out the jobs.

15. Use proper PPE’s ,spares, tools, equipment and accessories to the optimum utility

16. Should be willing to take offshore duties and be ready to work/relocate to any other branch as per requirement of the department

Required Qualification & Competencies:

1. Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a ship repair yard / company in the same role.

3. Excellent knowledge of computer applications especially the Microsoft Office.

4. Ability to read and understand blue prints.

5. Familiar with classification Society (ABS, DNV) requirements etc.

6. Excellent communication skill in English writing and speaking.
