Job Summary:
This position's primary purpose is to perform hydrologic fieldwork and is responsible for data collection in support of the Department's programs. Specifically groundwater level measurements, stream flow measurements, well discharge measurements, plus the occasional assistance with the operation & maintenance, downloading, and uploading of transducer well data from well sites.
This position is expected to maintain and input data into ADWR databases. Drafting of hydrologic reports and field summaries for management and the general public. Must be able to four-wheel drive off road to many well sites, work outdoors in all types of weather conditions, walk with water-level measurement equipment sometimes over a half a mile to well site and lift equipment up to 10-20 lbs. with flexibility to maneuver around well site.
The person in this position may occasionally assist with the repair and installation of automated well sites and therefore be able to lift supplies/equipment up to 60 lbs. Contacts owners for permission to measure, travels to well sites to make measurements using electrical sounders, steel tape, etc. and maintains contact and well site information in Master Section files.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. A minimum of two days on-site at the ADWR office per week is required.

This position requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)
Pre-Employment Requirements:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in geology, hydrology, or a related field, or a related field, and two years of hydrologic or a related experience; or a Master's degree in one of the above fields.

Retirement:
Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement system (ASRS). Please note, enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment. The current contribution rate is 12.00%.
