The ICU Consultant leads the clinical management of critically ill patients in collaboration with intensivists, residents, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and support staff. They assessing complex cases, formulate treatment plans, and supervise invasive procedures as needed. The role includes developing and updating ICU protocols, surge planning, ethical deliberation for end-of-life decisions, and implementing evidence-based practices such as sepsis bundles, ventilator strategies, delirium prevention, and sedation protocols. They mentor junior medical staff, participate in rounds, and coordinate with other departments (cardiology, neurosurgery, infectious diseases) for integrated care. The Consultant contributes to hospital-wide critical care standards, quality metrics, and research initiatives. They also lead morbidity and mortality reviews, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and engage in continuous professional development. Administrative duties may include staffing oversight, capacity planning, and budget considerations for ICU operations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Educations and Certificates:

Medical degree (MD/DO) from an accredited institution.

Board certification or eligible in Critical Care Medicine or Anesthesiology with a critical care subspecialty.

Valid Saudi Commission License as Consultant.

Valid BLS and ACLS.
Experience:
-
Minimum 10 years of ICU or critical care clinical experience.

Experience with pulmonary rehabilitation, airway clearance techniques, and non-invasive ventilation is preferred.

Completion of required certifications (ACLS, PALS, BLS).

Experience with advanced life support, hemodynamic monitoring, sepsis management, and mechanical ventilation

Expert knowledge of critical care physiology, pharmacology, and evidence-based protocols.

Proficiency in invasive procedures (central line placement, arterial lines, ultrasound-guided techniques) as permitted.
