ICU Head Nurse

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive a full handover report of ICU patients from the previous shift nurse.

• Conduct daily rounds on patients.

• Assign duties to the nursing team according to patient needs and staff competencies.

• Follow up on patients before and after surgical procedures and complete required documentation and investigations.

• Review patients’ medical files.

• Prepare and review patients’ nutrition plans and meals.

• Daily inspection of emergency medication cabinets and replenishment of supplies, ensuring medication validity.

• Daily inspection of crash carts and ensure readiness of laryngoscope, ambu bag, and defibrillator.

• Ensure strict implementation of infection control policies by all staff.

• Ensure periodic maintenance of ICU equipment.

• Supervise patient transfers within the hospital or to external facilities.

• Conduct continuous performance evaluation of nursing staff.

• Train and supervise newly hired nurses in coordination with the Clinical Instructors.

• Promote teamwork and cooperation among staff.

• Implement hospital policies and regulations.

• Maintain continuous communication with the Director of Nursing regarding patient updates and incidents.

Requirements:-

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Valid professional nursing license.

• At least 2–3 years of experience as an ICU Head Nurse.
